If I Were in Charge of the World

If I Were in Charge of the World

(Form change poem with thanks to Judith Viorst)

If I were in charge of the world,

I’d cancel school for one day, video games, and also stuffies.

If I were in charge of the world,

There would be more dolls, more blankets, and lots of pet rats.

If I were in charge of the world,

You wouldn’t have homework,

You wouldn’t have war.

You wouldn’t have anger.

If I were in charge of the world,

Ice cream, chicken and biscuits, with peas

Would be a balanced meal,

And a person who sometimes was a little too crazy and loud

Would still be allowed

To be in charge of the world.

Ballerina

I am from my dad’s delicious homemade mac and cheese.

I am from a leafy, green, big yard.

I am from the swaying ballet moves.

I am from the splashing of swimming.

I am from the jumping trampoline.

I am from a flowing river and a quiet book.

I am from the woods of camping.

I am from the running soccer games.

My Splot House

My tie-die house will have tie-die cups, tie-die clothes, tie-dye shoes, tie-dye spoons, forks, and knives; tie-dye bowls, tie-dye plates, tie-dye card; tie-dye tables; tie-dye chairs; tie-dye lights, and more.  In my tie-dye house, I will have a popcorn machine.  When you walk into the house, you will see a huge pool with a dolphin in it.  In the living room, there will be a big television.  There will be a gym.  There will be a really big kitchen.  There will be a swimming pool.

Vermont Wheel of Plants and Animals

Rat created a wheel showing an important plant and animal of Vermont for every month of the year, highlighting how they look in that season based on research and observation.

Wonder Day: Making Doll Furniture

My question was about ways I could make doll furniture for my doll collection.  I used skills I learned from Mrs. Shedd in our STEAM sewing too!  I started with a beanbag chair, sewing on the machine with my dad.

Here it is!  My Wonder Day results!

My Real Life Measurement Project

I decided to make my dad’s pancake recipe.  I wanted to make one of his special recipes, and this one we call Daddy’s Pancakes in our recipe book.  His meals are great.

I used measuring in lots of ways in this project.  I measured with cups and teaspoons to do the ingredients.  I turned the temperature on the stove on to medium.

Other places I used measuring in my real life this week included making brownies too, turning the oven on to a certain temperature when I baked them, and timing how long they should bake with a timer.
